The establishment of Maruha Bussan dates back to 1958 when the founder, Takao Hayashi processed lotus roots in Okayama Prefecture. He liked the taste of the lotus roots and was amazed that it was delicious and unique. He decided to introduce the lotus roots to many people and make the wonderful food well known. Hayashi sacrificed the comforts of life and absorbed in the work of lotus roots processing day and night. Since then, the spirit of creating good taste and joy through the food along with the customers still lives with the management of the company today.

The first time Maruha Bussan took a challenge of importing lotus roots in Japan was in 1978. Based on this, the yearly stable mass supply plans of raw materials and process products were put into practice.
Providing demanded products to our customers on time and with speed is our first priority. In order to continue improving, we are always searching for the cooperation partnership with the countries in Asia, such as China and Korea. We are determined to continue expanding the field of products that are high quality and are required by the customers.

Maruha Bussan was known for paying attention to the freshness of food material in the producing district. We had achieved a good reputation for making good use of food materials pickled in sweetened vinegar, salt and dehydrated. Maruha Bussan has achieved remarkable growth through the years.
We succeeded the spirit of using the food material carefully, stopping the waste and developing the favorite product till this day. The spirit and the developing capacity of our company were highly estimated and praised by New Business Association as a member of industrial society in the 21st Century.

The complete process from choosing raw materials in manufacturing end product in factory is performed under the rigorous supervision of the quality control office. Moreover, we make every effort in dealing with the whole process from production to consumption with safety, confidence and sincerity, while responding to the views and the questions of customers.
